Heather is part of De Brauw’s Corporate practice and is based in Amsterdam. She has a broad background in M&amp;A law from North American and European perspectives. 
Heather has advised on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestments, joint venture arrangements, complex carve-out transactions and private equity investments in a range of industries. Her clients include domestic and international corporate clients in a variety of industries, and private equity funds.
Heather holds degrees from the University of Toronto and the University of Oxford. She is qualified to practice in New York, and prior to joining De Brauw, she practiced at a major international law firm in New York.
Heather's recent work includes advising: 
<ul><li dir="ltr">Royal Philips N.V. in the divestment of its Domestic Appliances business</li><li dir="ltr">HEMA and its shareholders in the sale of HEMA to a consortium led by Parcom Capital and Mississippi Ventures</li><li dir="ltr">Akzo Nobel N.V. in the separation of its Specialty Chemicals business and the sale of the business to The Carlyle Group.</li><li dir="ltr">ASML Holding N.V. in its acquisition of the Taiwan listed company Hermes Microvision Inc.</li><li dir="ltr">Madison Industries in various investments in the Netherlands</li></ul>

Heather Giannandrea

Counsel

Laura is counsel in the firm's Corporate/M&amp;A practice. She specialises in advising listed companies, large multinationals and private equity firms on M&amp;A transactions, including cross-border deals. Laura also has experience advising clients on a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters, particularly in the context of M&amp;A transactions.
Between 2016 and 2018, Laura was based in De Brauw's Singapore office, where she handled cross-border enforcement matters and internal investigations for EU companies involving foreign regulators. She was seconded to Heineken International in 2015 and to Flow Traders in 2022.
Laura is a guest lecturer on M&amp;A compliance and regulatory topics at the VU Law Academy.

Laura Stiekema

Ranked both in Chambers and Legal 500, Helen has extensive experience in all aspects of competition law, including merger control, cartels, dominance and vertical restraints. Clients value her in-house and private practice expertise, which allows her to understand business drivers and offer clear and practical advice, even in the most complex of matters.
She regularly advises international companies on their European and international M&amp;A and competition law matters including AkzoNobel, Booking.com, Just Eat Takeaway, Celanese, DSM-Firmenich, TomTom and SHV. 
Helen is one of the ACM's five non-governmental advisors supporting the development of competition policy within the International Competition Network. She teaches students of the Grotius Academie and of the Brussels School of Competition Masters programme. She is dual-qualified as both a solicitor (England &amp; Wales) and Dutch advocaat. Helen is also included in Global Competition Review's prestigious Women in Antitrust list and is part of the leadership team of W@ NL, a platform to promote female talent in the area of competition law.
