Lennard is a partner in De Brauw’s Corporate/M&amp;A practice, and head of the private equity practice. He acts for Dutch and international private equity firms on their acquisitions and exit transactions, as well on other matters throughout the investment period. In addition, Lennard regularly acts for founders and family-owned companies who wish to sell their company or to partner with private equity. He is often consulted for his expertise in governance arrangements between shareholders, private equity funds and co-investors, including minority investments by private equity, and in warranty &amp; indemnity insurance and management participation plans.
Lennard is recognised as a leader in his field, as also confirmed by Legal 500 (‘Hall of Fame’ for Private Equity) and Chambers. Lennard was nominated as one of six lawyers for the Dutch Best M&amp;A Lawyer Award each year as from 2020 and won the award in 2021 and 2023.

Stephanie is a forceful competition and FDI lawyer with over a decade of experience practicing in Brussels, Amsterdam and New York. Stephanie counsels clients on a broad range of European and Dutch competition and FDI related matters, building on her experience representing multinational clients before the European Commission as well as Dutch and US authorities. Stephanie has built up extensive skills and knowledge in transactional matters – winning clearance for complex remedies across the globe and acting as lead counsel in the coordination of many international merger filings. Mariska has a specific focus on private equity-related matters, governance, regulatory capital, recovery and resolution. 
 
Mariska regularly advises financial institutions including banks, insurance companies and payment institutions on topics like structuring and restructuring, governance and conduct of business, as well as on dealings with the regulators. In addition, she is frequently involved in M&amp;A transactions and negotiations regarding investments and divestments, including for private equity clients.

She regularly conducts internal investigations and represents corporations and financial institutions in administrative and criminal enforcement proceedings. She also advises on pre-enforcement compliance issues. Marlies specifically focuses on matters involving US regulatory authorities.
 
Marlies is an expert on economic sanctions and export controls. She often advises companies on economic sanctions and export controls compliance in general and the legality of contemplated transactions. She has conducted numerous internal investigations on the topic and represented companies before both Dutch and foreign enforcement authorities, among them the US Department of Justice (DoJ), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). In addition, she has assisted companies navigate public scrutiny, including parliamentary questions, relating to their international trade relations.
 
Another focal point of her work is corporate criminal law, including safety and environmental law, fraud, anti-money laundering and anti-bribery regulation. Marlies has ample experience representing companies suspected of wrongdoing in such matters, both in the investigatory phase as well as in court, including in appeal. She also assists companies that have fallen victim to crime themselves, advising them on their position in court and possibilities to recover their damages.
