Philips Electronics to acquire Preethi in India
De Brauw acted as lead counsel to Philips Electronics on the acquisition of Preethi, a leading kitchen appliances business in India, that employs approximately 850 people. The acquisition will make Philips the leader in this specific fast-growing segment within the Indian Domestic Appliances market.
“To capture growth in kitchen appliances we need to intimately understand local consumer needs and deliver the right solutions,” said Pieter Nota, CEO of Philips Consumer Lifestyle. “By building on Preethi’s unique local knowledge, heritage of quality, and substantial distributor and dealer network, we are well positioned to drive growth in one of the world’s most dynamic kitchen appliance markets.”
The transaction involves the purchase of the Preethi business from seven Indian entities. The transaction documents were prepared by De Brauw and negotiated in India, together with the Philips Amsterdam and India teams.
