De Brauw is advising Singaporean transport operator SMRT Services on a contemplated joint venture with Dutch Group Rapid Transit (GRT) systems provider, 2getthere. As the GRT will not require drivers and will be available on-demand, it is expected to be safer and more resource-efficient. The joint venture, 2getthere Asia, will market, install, operate and maintain 2getthere’s automated vehicle systems for customers in the Asia-Pacific region. By the end of this year, 2getthere Asia aims to showcase a GRT - an air-conditioned, 24-passenger "pod" - in a live environment in Singapore.
In anticipation of the growing demand in the Asia-Pacific region for automated vehicles, SMRT Services and 2getthere are also working to deepen their strategic relationship to better support 2getthere's development and growth.
