TenneT acquires 40% of Germany's extra-high voltage electricity transmission grid

De Brauw has advised the Netherlands-based transmission system operator TenneT on the acquisition of E.ON's 10.700 km extra-high voltage electricity transmission grid, which will double the size of TenneT's transmission grid and make it owner of 40% of Germany's extra-high voltage electricity transmission grid.

The sale by E.ON AG is due to its commitment vis-à-vis the European Commission to separate and divest its extra-high voltage transmission system business. This is TenneT's first cross-border acquisition of a transmission system business.

Earlier this year De Brauw advised TenneT on the acquisitions of high voltage grids and ancillary assets from Enexis / Essent, Alliander / Nuon and Delta.
